Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia

The movie, Prince of Persia, was refreshing to my taste buds. Not only does it keep your attention the entire time it reminds me of the days of Indiana Jones with a side of National Treasure. Like the Indian Jones trilogy it was filled with twists/turns and good clean adventure with a poignant “underdog-makes-the-right-decision” ending.

What I love most about Prince of Persia was that it was great for the family! Now… by “family”, I’m talking about your BOYS. This is definitely an action/adventure “boy” movie. While it had a touch of the two leads gleaming into each others eyes — with a beautiful kiss… it kept the romance at bay (just what a 10 year old ordered). But more than that… it didn’t have any raunchy innuendoes or sexy scenes that I would have to cover my kids’ eyes.

It did have some scenes of blood (by no means 300 or Lord of The Rings). For smaller kids… the scenes with the snakes or the evil “Hassassins” (especially the one with the gnarly face) might be a little intense. But on the whole… your boys 10 and up should be able to handle it (YOU be the judge with your individual child). Girls may love the Princess… but it seems that was the only bundle left for the girls.

Most of the stunts were jumps off of buildings, knocking guys to the ground, and sword fights. The first scenes reminded me of Aladdin.

As far as language — I’m not really sure. My wife and I walked away saying, “was there any bad language in that?” — but, you know, after you’ve heard so many times… sometimes you don’t hear it. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action.” and might have gotten away with a rating of PG.
